Karen Hawthorne

Karen studied Performing Arts for 4 years in Bangor SERC and achieved an HND before working professionally for a few years in Northern Ireland. She then went on to work with children on a one-to-one basis, specialising in special needs care, for six years. However it soon became clear that the call of the theatre was just too loud to ignore and she re-entered the professional scene here a few short years ago. Recent theatre credits include Titanic Boys (Grand Opera House, Cork Opera House), Beauty-ful in Sleeping Beauty (Waterfront Hall), Katie in Sleepy Hollow (Theatre at the Mill), Puss in Puss in Boots (Braid Theatre), Kelly in Dog DLA Afternoon (Grand Opera House Studio), and The Wicked Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Millenium Forum). She was also working towards her role as Young Lena in Keep Telling Me Lies for a tour with David Hull Promotions pre Lockdown.

As an avid reader and painter, Karen has recently been established as an audiobook producer and is thoroughly enjoying the process.

Karen began her performing career at age 15 with a group of dancers in local amateur dramatics societies, and this is something which she holds dear to this day. She now acts as secretary for one such company, encouraging all age groups to become involved both on and backstage.
