Michael Johnston

Michael Johnston is a Northern Irish based actor and facilitator. A graduate of Drama from the University of Ulster, he has also trained at Actor’s Studio (London) and has toured extensively across Ireland and the UK working with organisations such as (but not limited to) the Lyric Theatre, Bruiser Theatre Company, Creation Theatre (Oxford), Big Telly Theatre Company, Blue Eagle Productions, Children in Crossfire, and Greenshoot.

Michael works regularly with Replay Theatre Company (recently performing in Thaw and Tribe) and is passionate about creating work for neurodiverse audiences. He recently travelled to Norway and Malta to teach theatre makers how to create work for neurodiverse audiences. An excellent devisee, Michael has collaborated on new writing for stage, screen and street, performing regularly for In Your Space Circus (IYSC). Michael has a selection of street theatre shows and acts and teaches circus skills with IYSC for in-house classes and outreach, as well as coordinating IYSC’s “CircAbility” programme – teaching circus to young people with Autism.

Michael’s recent television credits include appearances on Tresspasses, The Dublin Murders, The Fall, Season 6 of Vikings, Season 5 of Game of Thrones, and Ben Wheatley’s High Rise, as well as being the face of Co-Ownership in an NI national campaign and Bulmers in a nationwide Irish campaign.
